Project Teach On

The Black2School Project

The Black2School Project

Project Teach ON Initiative is an initiative dedicated to supporting current K-12 teachers by providing funding to create positive, creative, and safe learning environments for their students. According to the National Education Association, on average teachers spend between $300-$750 of their personal money, a year to purchase school supplies. This amount is also not a reflection of the amount of money they invest into classroom decorations, snacks, and other items necessary to producing a classroom effective for learning. That is why The Community for Education’s Project Teach ON Initiative will provide financial assistance in the amount of $500 to one elementary, middle, and high school teacher, each academic school year. It is our belief that by supporting teachers in this way, our impact will also reach their students. Thus, it is imperative that we not only create, but implement this initiative to touch the lives of so many.

The Black2School Project will be the organization’s initiative to promote and support students of color attending four year universities pursuing a degree in education, thus becoming educators after graduation. Currently in America, Black women make up 5.8% of the entire teaching population, while Black men make up 1.3%. The Community for Education believes that more teachers of color should be put before our students, to diversify our classrooms and so that every student can see themselves in the learning. It has been concluded by the Brookings Institute, that Black students who have at least one Black teacher by the 3rd grade are 7% more likely to graduate high school and 13% more likely to graduate from college. But not only are Black and teachers of diverse backgrounds important to the education of Black students, but serve a greater importance for all students the education system serves. So, The Black2School Project will provide scholarships for students who are working towards a degree to become an educator and will also provide career and professional development support after their graduation, to ensure that our scholars are creating a lasting impression in the classroom.

The Community for Education believes in supporting students who have shown commitment to their studies and are pursuing post-secondary or advanced degrees to further their personal and professional development. Hence, our organization would like to support students with a book scholarship, to lighten the financial investment that higher education could have on them. Student receiving this scholarship can pursue any major/program and attend any 4 year university. Our commitment to the education community supports all areas of the education journey, especially higher education.

Summer Spark

The Community for Education Book Scholarship

The Community for Education Book Scholarship

Each summer, many students — particularly those in under-resourced communities — lose critical academic gains, a phenomenon known as the “summer slide.” Over time, this learning loss contributes to long-term achievement gaps and reduced educational outcomes.

Summer Spark exists to disrupt that pattern — ensuring that every child, regardless of zip code, has the chance to grow academically, thrive socially, and return to school ready to succeed.

Summer Spark is a free summer learning experience designed to keep young minds active, engaged, and inspired while school is out. Through hands-on activities, interactive lessons, and culturally relevant enrichment, students in grades K–8 build their skills in reading, math, STEM, and the arts — all while having fun and building community.

Led by passionate educators and mentors, Summer Spark blends academic support with creative exploration, social-emotional learning, and exciting field experiences. The program is joyful, inclusive, and accessible to all families, with meals, supplies, and learning tools provided at no cost.
